Compared to most tunnels, those under the Allentown Metal Works were exceptionally clean and barren, making them easy to walk. The pipes were also void of the typical asbestos wrapping insulation which was a nice treat for the lungs. However, the lack of insulation also made me question what the pipes and tunnels were used for, as they appeared too thin to be your typical underground steam pipes.
