Like an invasive species, these brutal warehouses seem to multiply and grow overnight. Their smooth cement walls sprout up from the freshly excavated toxic soil-ridden foundations below, forming bleak cubes of hollow concrete adorned with blocky eyes, black as night and soulless as the billionaires who control them. As the young warehouses metamorphose from maggots to adult shit-eating flies, they consume the surrounding landscape, growing larger and larger, with only one goal: to store society's never ending capitalistic appetite for more and more Amazon bullshit and the ever increasing billionaire overlord needs to house future AI atrocities. Soon, a maze of freshly laid asphalt links one massive warehouse to the next, as low-paid and undervalued delivery drivers navigate these free-enterprise farms while swiftly peddling cargo bicycles loaded with packages that "may cause happiness". New Jersey in particular has been a hotbed for these dismal warehouses, especially in the more rural counties of the State, where land is at less of a premium. Over the past few years I found a bit of enjoyment from exploring and photographing these woeful warehouses, for the scenes they create are anything but a dystopian fiction, for it is all very real and spreading to a vacant plot of land next to you soon. Until then, Work Hard, Have Fun, Make History.
