Get Wrecked

The largely undeveloped, industrial western shoreline of Staten Island, New York is separated from the main land of New Jersey by a narrow shipping channel known as the Arthur Kill. This contaminated tidal strait is arguably full with more sticky mud and shipwrecks than it is oil contaminated water. Perhaps the most famous collection of Arthur Killed wrecks is the Staten Island Ship Graveyard, a massive floating burial ground of rusted vessels marinating in glistening rainbow slicks of oily water. However, well beyond the Ship Graveyard lay the remains of numerous other nautical detritus scattered all across the banks and abandoned shorelines predominantly on the Staten Island side of the Arthur Kill. Walking the western shores at low tide reveals an open casket maritime funeral viewing, where one can get real hands on with the skeletons. Just don't get too close to the mud, as you might become the next wreck.
